Who we are
UDS provides aerial surveillance in environments where safety and security is paramount. We specialise in providing aerial security surveillance operations resulting in deterrence and detection of criminal activity. Our trained flight crew communicate and guide ground security to ensure information gathering and effective arrests. Improved situational awareness through drone surveillance, not only assists in apprehending criminals but also serves to protect the security on the ground.
In addition to security surveillance, with an in-house GIS team, UDS provides survey and inspection services for various industries
The incorporation of leading-edge surveillance systems, supported by the constant development and improvement of drone technology, allows us to tailor any surveillance solution in order to assist our clients in ensuring the safety and protection of their people, infrastructure and assets. This is best achieved by co-ordinating flight plans around an intelligence driven operation. We provide highly effective solutions that range from basic inspection and surveillance to cutting-edge AI systems that revolutionise how these services are delivered.
Compliance & accreditation
UAV and Drone Solutions was founded by three entrepreneurships with a love for conservation and technology; Otto Werdmuller Von Elgg, Georges Sayegh and Robert Hannaford. The drone operations were initially used for anti-poaching in the Kruger National Park, Hluhluwe Umfolozi and various national parks in Botswana, Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Considering the success of these operations, many commercial clients became interested in the service and the proven benefits of aerial surveillance.
With the promulgation of Remotely piloted aircraft systems (RPAS) regulations, Part 101, Civil Aviation Authority grounded UDS in July 2015. Working tirelessly to comply with what was a very new industry to both us and Civil Aviation, UDS was awarded the first RPAS Operators Certificate (ROC) under the South African Civil Aviation Regulations in October 2015.The initial ROC was limited to National Parks, however due to our pedigree and knowledge and experienced gained during such operations, Civil Aviation Authority extended the scope of operations to include commercial clients, initially operations at mines and industrial facilities. The first operations proved immediately successful and UDS continued to expand from there on, obtaining more aircraft and employing more personnel. UDS’s primary business is providing security surveillance operations to Government Entities, SOEs, mines and industrial facilities. The company was sold to the Bidvest Group in March 2019. Following the sale, the company has continued to expand, especially in the security sector
