UDS’s Bursary programme is advertised to clients as well as internally to UDS Staff members. Recently six candidates were selected, and their 2021 tertiary education fees were paid in full

Cadet programme
UDS is proud to have launched a cadet programme in January 2020. The cadet programme’s primary purpose is to enable young B-BBEE candidates the opportunity to obtain their Remote Pilot Certificate (RPC) and enter the aviation industry. Joining the aviation industry is often a far away dream for many young people however at UDS, we are now making this dream a reality.
Selection Process:
Phase 1
Initial application – applicants are required to submit a CV, proof of qualifications, motivation detailing why they wish to join the programme as well answer general aviation and Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) based questions.
Phase 2
Simulator assessment and theory (mathematics and geography) examination.
Phase 3
Class 3 Aviation Medical assessment.
Phase 4
Remote Pilot License theory lectures and exams.
Restricted radiotelephony license.
Phase 5
Remote Pilot Certificate Practical lessons.
Final skills test.
Phase 6
Once the candidate has successfully completed the RPC final skills test, they are employed at UDS as a “Cadet” and commence the UDS internal training programme, including their BVLOS endorsement.
Phase 7
Following successful completion of the in-house training programme and achievement of 50 hours on DJI Light aircraft, the “Cadet” is promoted to Junior Pilot.

Basic requirements to join the program
- Driver’s license with own reliable transport
- Ability to pass an English Language Proficiency test
- Good health in order to obtain a Class 3 Aviation Medical Certificate
- Under 26 years old
- Previous aviation experience and/or remote-control flying is beneficial
** Grade 12 / Matric is not a requirement

This is a learnership on Business Administration Services, NQF Level 3 with 120 credits.
Qualification
This is a learnership on Business Administration Services, NQF Level 3 with 120 credits. This qualification is for any individual who is or wishes to be involved in the Administration function in any organisation or business in any sector, field, as well as in non-commercial organisations such as clubs and charitable organisations. It contains all the competencies, skills and values required by a learner who wishes to access the National Certificate in Business Administration Services at NQF Level 4. Business Administration involves the management of an organisation through a team of dedicated key players who all have one common goal – the successful growth of the organisation. If you have the passion to fulfil this goal, you will be an asset to the world of Business Administration. The core component contains competencies in Information Handling, Communications, Enterprise/Customer Service, Technology, Organisation Skills, Self-development, Teamwork and Business Policies and Procedures. The elective component allows the learner to gain specialist knowledge, skills, and insight in the areas of Reception, Executive Administration, Financial Services and Banking, Legal Administration and Human Resources.
